End of Life Care

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France

Palliative Care

There may come a time when your veterinarian and you determine that your pet's ailment is no longer treatable.  At this stage, we offer palliative care, meaning we will work with you to help alleviate pain and allow your pet to live out their days comfortably and with dignity.  This may require more frequent visits and an assortment of pain-management medications and techniques.  Our goal is always to assist you and your pet in these twilight hours, allowing you to make the most informed decisions with reassurance.  At some point, the doctor may suggest euthanasia as a viable option.  We know how difficult this decision is and we want to assure you, we have your loved one's comfort at the forefront of our minds.  We support your decision and guide you on this path with sympathy.

Euthanasia & Aftercare Services

If you and your veterinarian have determined that the best course of action is to proceed with euthanasia services, we offer a quiet and dignified experience to put your pet to rest.  This final decision should be made with understanding and love.  At this time, your pet's quality of life is below acceptable standards set by yourself, and we understand the struggle to come to this decision.  You have our support and sympathy during the process.

We offer aftercare services provided by Final Gift.  They are a New England based company that offer cremation and burial services, with the highest standards of ethics and compassion.  Standard offerings are private or communal cremations.  Private cremations return your pet's ashes in an urn of your choosing from their selection.  Communal cremations do not return your pet's ashes to you, but allow your pet's ashes to be interred at one of two beautiful pet cemeteries located in Massachusetts.

If your pet has passed at home, you may call Final Gift directly to make arrangements, or call our office for more information.

Above all, you have our sincerest sympathies and we are honored to serve you and your pet during the most difficult time of pet ownership.
